Pennsylvania Casinos Face Fines for Licensing Violations

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has levied penalties on several establishments for violating licensing regulations.

CPC Bucks County, operator of Chickie’s and Pete’s eatery at the Parx Casino in Bensalem, received the largest fine, $17,500, for serving excessive alcohol to six patrons. These patrons became highly intoxicated.

Stadium Casino Westmoreland, which operates Live! Casino Pittsburgh, was fined $7,500 for permitting an individual who had requested to be excluded from gambling to participate in table games and receive cash. The PGCB asserts that casinos must bar individuals who have sought exclusion from gambling and prevent them from engaging in any gambling-related activities.

TDN Money Systems, a firm specializing in coin and money handling equipment, was fined $7,500 for failing to promptly notify the PGCB of its sale to two other companies.

In the meantime, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has added six more adults to the “Involuntary Exclusion List” for leaving minors unsupervised in gambling establishments. This list prohibits individuals from entering all Pennsylvania casinos and participating in gambling activities.

One adult was found leaving their eight-year-old daughter alone in the casino’s waiting area while they wagered on sporting events, while another left their ten-year-old nephew unattended in the parking lot for eight minutes while they gambled.

One father left his ten-year-old son in a vehicle in the parking lot for six hours while he gambled at the casino, while another man left his three, five, and twelve-year-old children in a vehicle in the parking lot for 43 minutes while he placed sports bets.

In another incident, a mother left her three, four, and twelve-year-old children unsupervised in a casino hotel room for 94 minutes while she gambled, while another woman left her 11-month-old and two-year-old children in a vehicle in the parking lot for nine minutes while she played slot machines.

These offenders may also face criminal charges for jeopardizing the well-being of children.

Moreover, the PGCB unanimously voted to approve the renewal application for the Washington County Meadows Racetrack and Casino operator license for the Washington State Horse Racing Association.

The seven-member board of directors concluded that the Washington Horse Racing Association had met its obligations under its present permit, making it qualified for a five-year extension.

Since its grand opening in June 2007, Hollywood Casino at Meadows has generated a total of $3.5 billion in income from slot machines, table games, and sports wagering. This has led to approximately $2 billion in gaming taxes.
