Nevada Gambling Income Dips in March

Nevadas gambling income dwindled to $1.29 billion in March, a decrease of 3.7% compared to February’s $1.34 billion.

March’s income also dipped by 1.5% from the same period last year, when the state’s licensees produced $1.31 billion in income. The state collected $86.5 million in taxes this month.

Slot machines remained the primary gambling product, generating $874.5 million in income, or 67.8% of the month’s total. Nevada’s slot machine income in March rose 5.7% from $827.6 million in February. However, multi-currency slot machines were the only machines in this category that recorded year-over-year growth.

Meanwhile, table, counter, and card game income totaled $415.9 million, a decrease of 19.2% from $514.6 million in February. While baccarat income dropped 36.3% from $180.1 million to $114.7 million, it remained the largest income source for table, counter, and card games.

Despite the March decline, Nevadas gambling income for the current fiscal year to date has accumulated to $11.92 billion, an increase of 4.44% from the same period last year.

This was down 37.8% from the previous month, despite February including the Super Bowl, which was held in Nevada.

The Kansas City Chiefs triumphed over the San Francisco 49ers with a score of 25-22 at Allegiant Stadium.

Despite a substantial $12.9 million deficit in football, which significantly diminished profits primarily generated by March Madness, basketball earnings reached $32.5 million.

Nevada was unable to maintain its February success in March, with Las Vegas Strip earnings declining despite surpassing $800 million in February.

The Las Vegas Strip generated only $715.9 million in revenue in March, a 10.6% decrease from February’s $800.7 million. March’s figures also fell 1.2% compared to the same period last year, which witnessed $724.6 million.

Slot machine earnings on the Strip totaled $401.4 million, exceeding the previous month’s $381 million. However, revenue from table games, counters, and card games reached $314.4 million, a decline of over 25% compared to February’s $419.7 million.

Including Las Vegas Strip revenue, Clark County casinos generated a combined $1.13 billion in earnings in March, a 1.55% decrease from the same period last year.
