Allied Esports Sells World Poker Tour for $105 Million to Focus on Esports Growth

A global esports entertainment organization, Allied Esports, has finalized the sale of the World Poker Tour (WPT) to Element Partners, a private investment firm. The transaction, priced at a substantial $105 million, represents a significant pivot for Allied Esports, enabling them to concentrate intently on their primary esports operations.

A behemoth in the poker realm, the WPT, is a globally renowned brand, televised in over 150 nations. Having completed 18 seasons and currently broadcast on Fox Sports Regional Networks in the United States, the WPT is a prized possession.

This divestiture signifies a fresh start for both entities. Frank Ng, Chief Executive Officer of Allied Esports, conveyed his enthusiasm for this calculated maneuver, emphasizing the company’s dedication to expansion and advancement within the esports domain. He also extended congratulations to Adam Pliska, President of the WPT, and his staff, expressing well wishes for their continued prosperity.
