Danish Gaming Authority Sanctions SkillOnNet for Anti-Money Laundering Violations

The Danish Gaming Authority (DGA) has levied five anti-money laundering penalties against the gaming provider SkillOnNet. The firm received three directives and two warnings for inadequate money laundering prevention measures.

In essence, the DGA identified five areas where SkillOnNet was falling short on AML adherence. This encompassed issues such as not adequately evaluating the risk of money laundering associated with their offerings and financial platforms, and not maintaining their internal protocols to the required standard. SkillOnNet now faces a strict timeframe to rectify their operations, revise their risk evaluations, and prove their commitment to AML regulations.

The Danish Gaming Commission has levied a conclusive ruling against SkillOnNet for neglecting to adequately record its internal oversight protocols concerning anti-financial crime measures. This lapse is a direct infringement of Section 8(1) of the Danish Anti-Financial Crime Legislation.

The Gaming Commission’s inquiry revealed numerous concerns with SkillOnNet’s practices. Principally, the regulatory body determined SkillOnNet’s system for integrating new clients to be insufficient and ineffective. This stemmed from inconsistencies between their documented protocols and actual implementation. These deficiencies were considered to be in violation of multiple sections of the Legislation, encompassing Section 8(1) and Section 18(1).

Moreover, SkillOnNet’s confidential reporting mechanism was also deemed deficient. Prior to June 2023, the program was solely accessible through electronic mail, which significantly jeopardized the confidentiality of potential informants. This constituted a direct breach of Section 35(1) of the Anti-Financial Crime Legislation, which mandates the safeguarding of informants’ identities.
