SOFTSWISS Acquires Turfsport: A Strategic Move into the African iGaming Market

A prominent iGaming software provider, SOFTSWISS, has ventured into the African market through a strategic majority acquisition of Turfsport, a prominent South African firm. This acquisition marks a significant stride in SOFTSWISS’s global expansion plan, enabling them to penetrate the burgeoning African market.

Turfsport contributes extensive experience and a solid reputation, offering software solutions for sports wagering, equestrian racing, and lottery across various platforms. Boasting a clientele of over 40 South African operators and processing a remarkable 1.5 billion wagers annually, Turfsport’s influence on the market is substantial.

This alliance is anticipated to yield mutual advantages. Turfsport gains access to SOFTSWISS’s worldwide resources and proficiency, while SOFTSWISS can utilize Turfsport’s established foothold and comprehension of the regional market.

Both entities are optimistic about the future, envisioning the development of innovative products and services that will enable their clientele to maintain a competitive edge in a dynamic and evolving sector. This collaboration is poised to unlock substantial prospects in South Africa and beyond, cementing their position as a leading force within the African market.

Softswiss is making a significant move in the African market by purchasing Turfsport, a prominent sports wagering company. This tactical maneuver provides Softswiss with immediate brand visibility and a strong foothold within the territory.

Andrey Starovoitov, Softswiss’s joint CEO, expresses enthusiasm about the acquisition. He views Africa as the next major expansion opportunity, mirroring the trajectory of Latin America. He contends that leveraging Turfsport’s three and a half decades of experience is priceless and will enable Softswiss to deliver enhanced solutions to its collaborators.

This is not the first instance of a major entity setting its sights on South Africa. Light & Wonder collaborated with Hollywoodbets last December to enter the regulated iGaming sector. Likewise, Optimove joined forces with Amelco in October 2023 in preparation for their own South African growth. It appears everyone is keen to capitalize on the opportunities presented by this flourishing market.
