Romania Takes Center Stage in the iGaming World

The 1X2 Network has teamed up with Skywind Group to introduce its gaming portfolio to the Romanian market. This collaboration will allow Romanian users on Skywind’s platforms, including websites like princesscasino.ro, cashpot.ro, and luck.com.ro, to enjoy popular 1X2 Network games such as Plinko Go, Smoking Hot Fruits, and Maverick.

This agreement aligns with a growing trend of providers selecting Skywind Group as their gateway into Romania’s iGaming sector. For instance, slot creator Thunderkick recently disclosed a comparable arrangement, emphasizing Romania’s increasing significance in the global iGaming landscape. Thunderkick specifically designated Romania as a “crucial market.”

This movement is not unidirectional. Operators and vendors are keen on establishing a presence in Romania’s flourishing iGaming arena, resulting in a surge of collaborations. As an illustration, Octoplay recently joined forces with Superbet, while BGaming partnered with WinBet. Further amplifying the excitement, Imagine Live recently unveiled intentions for a brand-new live casino studio in Bucharest. Undoubtedly, Romania is currently the center of attention.

For a comprehensive analysis of this development, refer to the February issue of Trafficology magazine.

Ana-Maria Baciu, a legal expert specializing in intellectual property and affiliated with the Romanian National Association of IP Attorneys, highlighted Romania’s status as a thriving hub for the iGaming sector. From 2016 onward, governing bodies have issued approximately 475 second-tier permits to a diverse range of operators. A substantial share of these permits, roughly 140-150, were specifically granted to entities engaged in software and game creation. The market’s expansion displays no indication of waning, with an estimated 25 permits distributed in 2023 alone, even following modifications to licensing charges in October of the same year.

This upward trajectory is reiterated by Christopher Reed, an Account Manager at 1X2 Network, who discussed their latest alliance with the Skywind Group. This joint effort holds particular weight as it grants 1X2 Network entry to some of Romania’s most favored online platforms, further cementing their position within the territory. Reed stressed that Romania has constituted a pivotal market for them since they secured their Romanian permit in 2022. He perceives this partnership as a means to further leverage the prospects offered by the burgeoning Romanian market.
